The beYOU Helpline is
a confidential phone service which aims to provide a wide range of
information covering topics as diverse as; 'coming out', sexual
health, mental health, relationships, domestic abuse, and local
information.
Where appropriate we can help people meet other lesbians and gay men, or organise face-to-face meetings at our last Thursday of the month evening beHERE drop-in sessions.
The Helpline used to be our core service, and still is the major focus of the organisation. However caller numbers have dropped, meaning that we only need offer the service one night a week. We also offer an instant messaging service on Tuesdays for those not comfortable using the telephone to speak to us.
This change in demand has allowed us to offer a wider range of
services, such as the beHERE drop in, the web
site, message board nights, whilst still using the same amount of
volunteers. We hope to continue this broader approach to supporting
local lesbians and gay men.
