The beYOU Messages service was created in response to a need to increase our exposure, and recruit new volunteers.

In partnership with local gay venues (initially The Wynford Arms) the beYOU Messages team run an event where customers can communicate with each other using our message board. Every user gets a unique numbered sticker, and then can send messages to each other, using the message board. We include safer sex and safe dating advice with each message slip.

This service has proved very popular with the local gay community. After the initial event, we were asked if we could run the night once a month, and we have now run a total of three events. It proves a very potent awareness raising tool, recruitment platform, whilst creating links with local businesses and community.

Using this initiative we have managed to reach and surpass our goal of recruiting seven new volunteers.

We hope to continue this service, and would like to run it at venues across Berkshire. Another two nights are already planned at the Wynford Arms over the next two months.
