beYOU was set up in 1979 as the Reading Lesbian & Gay Helpline to support lesbians, gay men, their families and friends at a time when 'coming out' was generally more difficult and daunting.
You are probably asking why do we still need a support network for the LGBT community in these more enlightened times? Coming out is still not easy for people. It can be a time of great uncertainty, difficulty and change, so the need for support still remains.
So who uses beYOU services? Anyone and everyone! We are mainly contacted by LGBT people their parents and friends. beYOU also provides safe sex information and advice. Where appropriate we can help you meet other LGBT people in an informal and relaxed environment at our coffee socials.
In May 2013, Thames Valley Positive Support (TVPS) took over the running of beYOU.
TVPS is a sexual health charity that predominantly supports people affected by HIV throughout Berkshire
